Route Information
Important: Hartbeespoort Dam wall road will be closed from 05:45 to 09:00.
This is a point-to-point route from Hartbeespoort Dam to Sun City, 154 km through the North West Province.
You'll cross the Hartbeespoort Dam wall and pass through the Magaliesberg gorge before dropping into the farmlands on the other side. From there, the route follows the irrigation canals; flat, fast gravel roads running between crop fields and farm dams. The first half is where you settle into a rhythm and find your legs.
The second half is where the climbing begins. Just before WP5, you'll ride a stretch alongside the railway line before reaching the river crossing.
Please note: there is a portage point where you will need to cross a small river on foot. The descent is manageable, but the climb out the other side is steep and rocky.
From there, it's a mix of gravel and tar as you approach Sun City. Save something in the tank, there's a sting in the tail just before the finish venue.
KOM/QOM: Around the 114 km mark, just before WP4.
Give it everything you've got.

That said, you are welcome to have a support team available at WP2 (Beestekraal Kerk, halfway mark).
No support is permitted outside of WP2, and any transgression will result in disqualification.
- Elite riders may have their own team mechanic at the tech zone at WP2. Technical assistance will only be allowed at this designated zone.
- Please note that there are three stop-and-go sections on the route to Beestekraal Kerk, which may cause a 30-40 minute delay for supporters.
- Supporters collecting riders after the race should use lanes 1 and 2 at the main entrance of Sun City, you will need to use the spectator pass to gain access (view below).
Technical & Medical Assistance
Sweep vehicles, bike marshals, and medical services will be on route throughout the race to assist riders.
Each water point will have a tech zone operated by Liqui Moly. Riders experiencing technical difficulties on route will be escorted by sweeping staff to the nearest water point.
Personal support vehicles will only be permitted to collect riders at Water Point 2. If you do not have personal support to assist, event staff will assist with transport back to the finish venue. Please note that delays may occur, as the priority of our support teams is to ensure all riders are safely escorted to the nearest water point before additional transport is arranged. We ask that riders remain patient while assistance is being coordinated.
