For those of you who are new to the Race to the Sun adventure, we would like to see our riders through to the finish line. Most of the few riders that did not finish the 2018 race happened to fail because of technical faults. Take a moment to make sure you meet the basic requirements for Race to the Sun 2019.

If you are new to this race, we’d like to see you fully prepared and equipped to take on this challenge. It is truly an epic adventure and is best enjoyed with a well-planned strategic approach.

The race is a day out in the sun, you’ll be having your lunch on the road and you might underestimate the evolving terrain over the course of the race.

We have made sure that there are ample water points to keep you refreshed, but see to it that you fuel up. Water is not enough, make sure that you consume sufficient nutrition at the three designated eating stations. If you have special dietary requirements, spectators are allowed to keep your stock.

Sunblock is a necessity. Sunburn is avoidable aspect if you take the necessary precaution.

It is advised that you use a dry lube to reduce dust accumulation. Having the neccesary spares to fix flat wheelsi and a basic toolkit is definitely a must. Check your gear before your start, don’t let a worn-out tyre spoil the race.

The GPS routes will be sent to you a week before the race and will also be made available on the website for download with gpx, tcx and kml file options.
