Race to the Sun is just a few days from now and everyone is prepping for the amazing 162-kilometre journey from Hartbeespoort to Sun City. Here’s a few final arrangements before the event for Relay Teams:

The relay team transition point is at Roodekopjes Dam. Relay team members should follow the Spectator Route, as there are no vehicles allowed on the actual Race to the Sun route. #SafetyFirst. Rider 2: You are welcome to support your buddy at spectator point 1, but be sure to be in time at the relay point.

Rider one, need to know:

Start at Schoemansville Die Oewer and finish at Roodekopjes Dam.

Rider 1 will see a sign splitting from the route named “Transition”. Follow this sign! This will lead you to the transition area where you need to sign out with the time keeper. Give your buddy a high-five, you’ve just completed half the distance! Be sure to grab the CAR KEYS from him/her and get them to explain to you where the car is parked.

Rider two, need to know:

Start at Roodekopjes Dam and finish at Sun City.

Rider 2: when you arrive at Roodekopjes dam, please ask the marshal where the Relay teams should park (this is closer to the transition area). Get everything ready and make your way to the transition area. Please ensure you give the car keys to rider 1! You also need to scan your board as before you leave. (Important: don’t start riding before rider 1 arrives, this will lead to disqualification).

Rider 2: Upon finishing, please get a medal for both yourself and your team partner. Also grab an ice cold Radler at the finish and celebrate a great day out on your bikes with like-minded crazies!

Race director input on the two sections: “Section one is by far the easiest, awesome to ride over Harties dam wall and a massive convoy of riders through town as the sun rises. However, keep in mind this section needs some skills in navigation and riding in bunches with fellow riders. The downside of course is you don’t get to ride over the finish line. Section two, is the toughest, but cool bushveld riding with some high-speed sections, and of course experience the ride into Sun City.
