Race to the Sun’s routes are not situated within a typical trail park environment. This route was designed for the adventurous mountain biker, to follow a journey to the sun.  The maps and GPS coordinates will be sent to you via email, where you can start planning the route with team mates or as a solo explorer. These devices are recommended for long rides, where riders will need navigation should they get lost. Basic route markings will be set in place on the day to keep you on track.

Smartphones

Riders can use their Smartphones to navigate the route, but this might take much more preparation than a suggested GPS device. Routes will have to be cached on your phone, due to the areas where you will be riding through, mobile data signal is very limited. You will also need to carry a portable battery pack, as a phone’s battery life might not last as long as a GPS device would. Depending on the weather, you will need to place your phone in a waterproof bag.

Printed Map of Route

Some pioneers may prefer to carry a traditional printed map of the route with them. This will require proper preparation for race day and you should be able to have a good sense of direction when choosing this option.
